Make your own high performance lab power supply

If you are in need of a high spec power supply, don't waste your money just make your own.

I wrote this piece on instructables and it got featured:

The main idea is that this design achieves high efficiency so it doesn't need large heat sinks but it also outputs very little noise.

This is possible by using an efficient switch mode converter to drop the voltage to just above the set output voltage, then the rest is dropped using lossy but super quiet linear regulators which are connected in parallel to increase the maximum current:
